Erol Cavus
Programme Management Officer (Pollution), Mediterranean Pollution Assessment and Control Programme (MED POL), United Nation Environment Programme/Mediterranean Action Plan (Barcelona Convention)
Erol Cavus is an Environmental Engineer and was graduated from Istanbul Technical University. Erol is a Programme Management Officer working in UNEP/MAP since 2017. He supports Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention to develop policy tools and technical guidelines for protection of the marine environment. He is responsible for implementation of Land Based Source Protocol, one of the protocols under Barcelona Convention which governs preparation of legal measures and National Action Plans for reduction of pollution loads stemmed from land-based activities at national and regional level. Recently, he has been working on “Regional guideline on available treatment technologies for urban wastewater and sewage sludge and decision support systems (DSS) for their selection”; “Regional guideline on pre-treatment standards and applicable BATs for industrial sectors eligible to discharge to urban wastewater collection systems”; “Guideline on Regional Standards for Discharge from Desalination Plants and Decision Support Systems for Sustainable Desalination Technologies in the Mediterranean”.
