Özlem Güçlü

Özlem Güçlü is a Lecturer at the Sociology Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where she teaches on film, media, human animal realtions and critical post-human theory. Güçlü holds PhD in Media and Film Studies (SOAS, University of London); MA in Gender Studies (Central European University) and BA in Sociology (MSGSÜ). Her main research interests are representations of gender and sexuality in cinema, politics of film representation and aesthetics, cinema of Turkey, and cinematic animals. Amongst her other publications, she is the author of Female Silences, Turkey's Crises: Gender, Nation and Past in the New Cinema of Turkey (2016), co-author of Mustang: Translating Willful Youth (2022), and co-editor of Queer Tahayyül [Queer Imagination] (2013).
